Winning Sustainablity Award

ADNATCO & NGSCO was recently recognized for its Cadetship Program that produced hundreds of UAE seafarers since 1995.

The crowning moment came when the company was given the Runner Up Sustainability Award of the ADNOC HSE Awards 2011 for training more than 300 UAE Nationals to become fine seafarers including the first ever UAE Nationals to sail as Master (Captain) on board LNG Carriers, Oil Tankers and also the first ever UAE National as Chief Engineer on board our vessels.

Commenting on the award, the CEO said: “Reputable shipping companies usually develop such programs in order to create their own competent and experienced staff, but ADNATCO & NGSCO, in addition to adopting the philosophy of creating its own competent staff, has an obligation towards promoting the UAE Nationals and the company has developed and implemented a unique scholarship program followed by employment and career development plan.”

“This is a great achievement for the UAE and in particular ADNATCO & NGSCO. Our Cadetship Program is a unique project within UAE Maritime Industry and we are proud to be the pioneers in training seagoing staff from UAE Nationals.

“ADNATCO & NGSCO is determined to continue the Cadetship Program to increase the number of qualified UAE Nationals among our seagoing personnel. Head Office key positions in our onshore business are filled with qualified and competent UAE Nationals and many of them are graduates from our Cadetship Program.”

Meanwhile Dr. Nasser Mansoori, Cadetship Program Department Manager, said: “Our cadetship program has become renowned throughout the maritime industry due to the commendation of some of the leading shipping companies.

“Our success is the result of strong teamwork between Management Support, Senior Sea Staff, Maritime Colleges Staff Assistance and most importantly the young UAE Nationals who with their dedication and commitment made us very proud. Under our guidance and through their diligence the young cadets have gained the competency that is required to allow them to safely guide and operate our ships all over the world.

“In addition to our current officers who sail on board our vessels, many of our Cadetship Program graduates hold high positions across the UAE Maritime Industry.”

The ADNATCO & NGSCO Cadetship Program meets fully the requirements of International Maritime Organization (IMO) and Standard Training and Certificate of Watch Keeping (STCW). The successful completion of cadetship program entitles the cadets to become certified officers (Deck Officers, Guiding and ships, Engineer Officer, responsible for ships machineries and Electro Technical Officer (ETO), responsible for all Electrical, Electronics and IT Systems of the ships.
